The word circles as a glowing band, but the space it crosses is curved: a gravitational deflection drags the band’s apparent radius inward, so the letters nearest the hole are tidally stretched along their orbit — spaghettified type — while a second, fainter image of the same text runs backwards along the photon ring, the light having taken the long way round.
